Tailgating
IIllinois State has public and donor tailgating lots surrounding Hancock Stadium. Game days are filled with lots of activities and entertainment. From the Reggie Kids Zone to the Redbird Tent Zone, there is plenty to see and do. Take a look at our tailgating lots online.
Do I need to park my car in a tailgating lot to enjoy the pregame festivities?
No, of course not. There are lots of fun-filled activities to take part in around Hancock Stadium that are completely open to the public. Enjoy live music or explore the Redbird Tent Zone before the game.
Tailgating "Do's" and" Don’ts"
- Don’t: Forget you are on University property. Have lots of fun but be conscious of your surroundings. For rules and guidelines, visit the Redbird Athletics tailgating page.
- Do: Wear lots of red! The more, the better! Apparel can be purchased on campus at Barnes & Noble in the Bone Student Center and at the Alamo II.
- Don’t: Arrive late. Give yourself plenty of time to start up that grill and get those tasty brats cooking. Tailgating begins 3 hours before game-time.
- Do: Tailgate in style and rent a tent in the Redbird Tent Zone. Do you find preparing for a tailgate to be a hassle? Would you like to impress co-workers, family and friends? Join the fun in the Redbird Tent Zone. Tents, catering, and group ticket packages are available but reservations are required. For more information, visit The Tent Zone page.
- Do: Bring your kids to the fun-filled Reggie Kids Zone. Located just north of Horton Fieldhouse, Reggie Kids Zone includes coloring, face painting, and inflatables. For more information, visit the Reggie Fun Zone page.
- Do: Come Extra Prepared. It's Illinois, folks. The weather can turn on a dime. Bring everything from parkas to flip-flops. Ok, maybe not quite that extreme but be aware of those all too common windy days in Bloomington-Normal.
- Don't: Forget that there are ample bathroom facilities located in Horton Fieldhouse...a great place to go to get out of the heat or cold and find kid-friendly restrooms.
- Do: Learn the fight song. If time does not permit, mumble loudly, but confidently act as though you are full of Redbird pride. Here’s a friendly reminder in case you’ve forgotten:
"Go You Redbirds onto battle! Fight for ISU.
Raise the banner, red and White; to this emblem we'll be true.
So let us cheer the Redbirds on to victory! Every voice proclaim:
`We've got the fight! We've got the might! Let's win this game."
